Albert Camus 1913-1960 – Documentary
On January 4, 1960, Camus traveled from Lourmarin to Paris, by road, in the Gallimard’s car (a name that refers to the French publishing house that published the writer’s books).
At 24 kilometers from Sens, on the national road 5, the car crashed into a tree, and Camus died instantly
Thus, the month of January 2010 marked the 50th anniversary of the Nobel Prize winner’s death.
Among the remains of the car came Camus’ posthumous book, “The First Man”, which speaks of the Minorcan nature of his ancestors. And that is precisely what the documentary is about, about the writer’s life, his roots, his life in Algeria with his Minorcan godmother and mother, his trip to Mallorca and Eivissa, his love for the Mediterranean, faithfully reflected in his work, his pride in having Spanish blood and the influence and weight that all this had on his literature.
